InterNIC was created by NSF to provide specific Internet services: directory and
database services (by AT&T), registration services (by Network Solutions Inc.),
and information services (by General Atomics/CERFnet).
Mosaic

Marc Andreessen and NCSA and the University of Illinois developed a graphical user
interface to the WWW, called "Mosaic," the first Web browser. The growth rate of the
Internet was an incredible 341%.
10 Million Users
1993 marks the year where the Internet reached 10 million users. According to Google
stats, this number doubled by 1994, doubled again by 1995, reached 1 billion by 2005
and exceeded 2 billion by 2010.
